Essay on Belonging 1704 Words7 Pages The need to belong in an integral part of the human psyche. All people, on some level, desire to feel a sense of belonging that will emerge from the connections made with people, places, groups, communities and the larger world.
Belonging Essay This is due to experiences that shape ones personality that come through personal, cultural, social and historical context. The idea of belonging allows one to have some sort of connection and communal with people, places, groups, communities and the wider world.
Belonging is a basic human need yet it is a constantly changing one. It is the result of understanding and making meaningful connections with a culture. However, a sense of belonging can only be altered or formed if the person actively chooses to understand that to which they would belong and adapt to it.
I believe belonging Is when you can say that you are a part of something, when you have a group or a club or even a lifestyle that other people share. In short, I believe that a sense of belonging can be found in the things or people that have shared the same experiences, both good and bad, because we can identify ourselves in those people.
BELONGING TO A GROUP: “At that moment only a bullet could have separated me from those people” this metaphor illustrates the belonging within a group and the connection amongst individuals. This conceives the idea that even in the worst of situations pressure can make us explore new ways of belonging.
